Today is National Relaxation Day. Perhaps nothing is better to unwind and celebrate the day than having a better of your choice. In this case, maybe you want a cocktail. Camomile Tea, which has long been used to help people relax and sleep, would be a good element in a drink. Elizabeth Powell of Art Bar in Cambridge, MA gives us a recipe for a cocktail that uses camomile Tea.
However, make sure to use a camomile tea that you actually enjoy. Camomile Tea is one of the 2 biggest ingredients, so use a good tea, such as Dilmah Chamomile Tea or Ridgways Camomile Tea. If you want to spice it up and bit, you can try Heath & Heather Camomile & Honey Tea.
Pommes Exceptionnelles (this recipe serves 1o to 12)
2½ cups spiced apple cider
2½ cups camomile tea
1¼ cups honey
5 ounces good brandy
5 ounces Laird’s Applejack
5 ounces Madeira
Freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg, for garnish
1 Granny Smith apple, cored and thinly sliced, for garnish
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, stir together the cider, tea, and honey until warm. In a punch bowl, combine the brandy, applejack, and Madeira, then add the warm cider mixture and stir. Garnish with cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple slices and serve warm.
