Williamson Tea Installs Solar Panels on Kenya Tea Estate

Williamson Tea has installed a solar power park at its tea farm at Changoi, Kenya.  Nearly 1.5 hectares (approx 18,000 square yards) Williamson has created the first utility-scale solar project in East Africa.  The project will generate 1.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity.  Located near the equator with 12 hours of daylight every day, this part of Africa is the perfect place for solar energy.

Creating this project is part of Williamson Tea’s efforts toward sustainable farming and more environmentally-friendly tea production.  Williamson is one of the only tea companies that grow, blend and market their own brand of tea.
