Tea Recipe: Soda Bread

Soda bread is distinctly Irish. Perhaps there is no one better to provide a recipe for soda bread than Barry’s Tea, Ireland’s premier tea company. Try this recipe. It is easy to follow and tastes great. The soda bread is best enjoyed with a cup of Barry’s Gold Tea. Recipe courtesy of Barry’s Tea.

Soda Bread
Makes 3 loaves

2 tsp baking powder
2 pinches salt
5 lb plain flour
3 oz raisins
3 oz dried apricots
1 pt buttermilk

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease loaf tin.

Sieve all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add buttermilk slowly and mix to a soft, sticky consistency. Pour mixture into tin. Place in oven for 45 mins. When cooked, the bottom will sound hollow when you tap it with your finger. Remove from oven, let cool on a bread rack. Slice and serve.
